Our Approach

At Blue Giraffe our aim is to provide your child with opportunities to play, explore, learn, take risks, make choices, and gain confidence and life skills to grow into the individuals we aspire them to be.

We support children’s natural curiosity and urge to learn. We focus on learning through purposeful “child-led” play in a range of planned and spontaneous activities. Our experienced staff team are there to guide, prompt, challenge, question, and encourage children throughout the day. Through these interactions we empower children to choose, reason, reflect, imagine and empathise to build their confidence and self-esteem.

Creative, Independent, and Ready to Grow

We know that children learn best when they’re healthy, active and have easy access to fresh air and nature where they are able to explore and be creative. We have our own Forest School on site, with a dedicated Forest School instructor. We also have a grow garden vegetable allotment.

We follow the Government’s Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum and use regular assessments to monitor and record your child’s development. We are also guided by leading theories in Early Years education such as those of Maria Montessori, who believed in creating children who are independent and self- sufficient, and the Reggio Emilia approach, which builds on children’s creativity where they take a lead in their learning and development.

At Blue Giraffe it is our responsibility to help children explore the awe and wonder of the world in which they live, and to give children the best possible start to their early education. When you bring your child to Blue Giraffe, comfortable in the knowledge that they will be safe, stimulated, nurtured, educated, supported and encouraged.
