Are your staff qualified and checked for suitability?

All staff are subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure and appropriate references are sought. The qualifications amongst our team exceed the current statutory requirements. We have staff with degree level qualifications and most staff have a NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Early Years.

My child has a dietary requirement, will you cater for their needs?

We are able to cater for different dietary requirements and follow strict policies and procedures for the management of any dietary requirements and allergies.

What if my child does not settle?

Before your child starts at nursery we arrange free settling-in sessions lasting for an hour or two. This allows you and your child to get to gradually become familiar with the surroundings and get to know the staff. If needs be we can extend this settling-in period

What happens if my child become ill whilst at nursery?

If your child becomes ill we will contact you to inform you, and ask you to collect your child from nursery if necessary.

How much time will my child spend outside?

We have a strong focus on outdoor learning. All children will spend time outdoors every day. We liaise with parents to ensure children are dressed appropriately.

How will I know my child is on track with their learning?

We upload observations regularly onto our parent app, along with regular updates about what your child has been up to at nursery. We also use the app to share key dates, news and announcements. Every term a child’s progress is assessed against EYFS and updated on the app, and we add ‘next steps’ for each child in line with the EYFS so you can see what your child’s learning goals are.

Will I be charged when I’m on holiday or off sick ?

Yes, unfortunately, there are no refunds for sickness or holidays.

Recent Ofsted Inspection

Blue Giraffe was rated as “Outstanding” at our most recent Ofsted inspection in 2021. There has been a change in ownership since then, however, the management and senior staff have not changed, and nor has their passion for delivering outstanding early years education.
